Mobilized and Delivered Two S-92s on Short Notice
Meeting Our Customers' Needs
The Waypoint Team mobilized and delivered two new Sikorsky S-92s on lease with a European-based, global helicopter operator on short notice. This accomplishment, coupled with our ability to swiftly and successfully re-lease 16 aircraft with legacy operators, exemplified our continued commitment to addressing our customers’ needs and delivering world-class aircraft to our operating partners for a variety of missions.
In addition, we have experienced an increasing demand for AW139s and S-92s, reflecting a growing need for certain medium and heavy aircraft around the world. Clark McGinn, SVP of Sales & Relationship Management at Waypoint, pointed out that despite a period of weak demand for oil and gas globally, and a recent shift in the market for heavy aircraft, Waypoint is consistently receiving numerous inquiries and is in multiple, active negotiations to place AW139 and S-92 aircraft for new projects and aircraft upgrades servicing Oil & Gas, EMS, and Search and Rescue missions.
Waypoint Opens Offices in Cape Town and Brisbane
Expanding Our Reach
We are excited to announce the opening of two new regional offices in Cape Town, South Africa and Brisbane, Australia, which cover our operations in Africa/Middle East and Australia, respectively. Waypoint’s Vice President, Sales & Relationship Management, Chris Wakefield, moved to Brisbane this past April to spearhead the office’s unveiling, which greatly expands our presence and offerings in this important region. Chris joined Waypoint in January 2016 with seven years of experience in the helicopter sector, working for almost five years as part of CHC Helicopter’s aviation finance team in Dublin, Ireland. Our Africa/Middle East office was launched at the end of June and is led by Con Barber, Waypoint’s Director, Sales & Relationship Management. Con joined Waypoint in February 2016 with 20 years of experience in the aviation sector, filling a wide variety of technical, project management, and strategic advisory roles around Europe and Africa. By strategically opening an office that covers our operations in Africa/Middle East, we are better equipped to provide superior accessibility and solutions to our customer base in this dynamic part of the world.
Waypoint already has a strong presence in these markets, where we have delivered five aircraft to several leading operators in Australia and have 12 aircraft currently on lease with operators in Africa. By being close to our customers and providing hands-on fleet management assistance, we plan to deepen our relationships and continue to expand in these high-growth regions.
Waypoint Leasing Places New Delivery AW189 on Lease to Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company
Entering New Markets
Waypoint Leasing has closed a lease agreement with Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company for one AW189 to support Premier Oil offshore operations in Vung Tau, Vietnam. This transaction marked our entry into the Vietnamese market and reflected our ability to respond rapidly to customer demands by executing terms in less than four weeks. This important transaction in a new operating jurisdiction underscores our commitment to broadening our global reach and better serving our customers. It also validates that there are significant opportunities to place heavy and super-medium aircraft with operators throughout the world to service offshore oil and gas and other crucial missions. We look forward to continue collaborating with Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company on aircraft leases in the future.
